Simple Cave Mapping

Postby OhBatmanIsTaken » Feb 20, 2013 1:05 am

I Just got back from exploring a really beautiful cave with friends. One of them brought a cell phone with them and when she got to the farthest and highest point in the cave she received a text, which made me think we were close to the surface. I have this crazy desire to make some basic measurements of the cave and it's out side surface to see if it indeed is thin in that one spot. Any suggestions on where to start?

If you can't locate a map of the cave.....I'd start at the back where you think it connects with the surface, and survey out of the cave. Then you can basically follow that back across the surface, but you should still due survey, so you know how close you are on depth, not just direction.
