Anyone know the story behind the bus at the camping area?

It used to haul people.

Seriously, though- I was curious about that bus myself. We were there this past weekend with some new folks, and they were curious about it also.

BTW, kudos to those who cleared the trail! Awesome job; we were able to go all the way to the cave unhindered. Thanks!

The only thing I ever recall hearing was that someone brought it up to convert into a camper then snakes took over...but I was hoping there was maybe a better more interesting story to be told.

I agree the trail is really great compared to what it could be. I went Sunday for the first time since the storms and I hardly recognized the place.

I haven't been there since 2009.... Here are some pics I took of the bus then. I've heard a tree did some damage to it during the tornadoes...

You just missed us-we were there on Saturday. Did you do the pit? We took a couple from Atlanta over there, since they had never done it. (They loved it!) It's been a few years since I've done it; the only thing different is the rig tree is now only about 6' tall. We still used it, but tied off lower and backed up on another tree.

The storm really tore that place up, for sure.

I bounced the pit along with 5 of my friends from Ga. its a really neat pit! Just hate the area is so torn up. Yeah the bus apparently took had a tree fall on it the roof is caved in towards the back. That used to be the best camping spot but there are hardly any trees left standing.

Is there actually a followable trail to the pit again?

Moses Tomb actually has Tomb nearby? Been there six to ten times over the year, and never heard that. Got any pics?

i led a trip there shortly after the tornado and did not find the new trail.......climbing over fallen trunks for an hour and a half and bushwhacking after getting up high enough i finally relocated the entrance.........then i saw the clean cleared easily traveled trail coming in from the other side........trick howard lived in the bus for a while in the early to mid 70's......
