What is the name of the International Caving Orginization

Sorry for such a Newbie question.

I guess I could have found this by digging around.

I will be joining NSS in a couple of days but I want to also know about the International Orginization as well. Is the NSS part of the International Group or are they unrelated?

Congrats on joining the NSS soon. Here is the international website for the UIS. http://www.uis-speleo.org/index.html

We often refer to it as the International Union of Speleoogy, but it gets its initials from the French notation of: Union Internationale de Spéléologie (UIS)

The NSS is a member.

AND...The NSS is hosting the UIS 2009 International Congress of Speleology in Kerrville TX. http://www.ics2009.us/

This will be a great opportunity for US cavers to attend a Congress and mingle with cavers from around the world. The NSS Convention in 2009 will coincide with the Congress, so we won't face a decision over which to attend.
