Gil Ediger navigating through a coat hanger in Ozark, AL ca. 1972 at a Fort Rucker/Ozark Grotto (FROG) meeting/party. Your truly heckling.

You find a rock in your ear during a meeting at work (and think you remember when it fell in there)...

You buy Gatorade on sale because you intend to "recycle" the bottle.

You own >500$ worth of headlamps but still end up using your cell phone to check how far a hole goes when you are out hiking.

You can equip 3 people with vertical and survey gear using your spares.

You've participated in a high stakes drive by burrito bag drop off after a trip.

You've carried deodorant on a camp trip because you can't stand crawling in you sleeping bag after 6 days underground.

You've got a strong opinion about: 9mm rope, Swaygo, backsights, adjusted backsights, Sten lights, frogging, QAS, racks, ...

**Going down the road your wife accuses you of looking for holes on the side of the road more that you watch the road.

** Your wife turns around and points out good looking holes to you 10 seconds later.

:funny post: :exactly:
Reb, that sounds very familiar. The problem is that I even do it around here where I live, and we have almost zero caves in my area. Just a habit, I guess. Is there any hope for me? :big grin:

LOL oh gosh I was doing that driving in Indiana last summer. I was like "erm I dunno really what to look for but I see holes and limestone looking rockyness and boulders and stuff" then realized I should really pay more attention to the road itself. There was one spot I thought for SURE I saw a nice hole but it was behind a "Private Property" fence. Which was the only reason I didn't stop and pull off the road to poke my head in...

I first noticed I had a problem when I started catching myself staring at every single roadcut, bluff, limestone outcropping, etc. that I passed by looking for holes. I think that started when I was in 2nd grade riding the schoolbus & that was years before I went into my first wild cave  .

People ask me what caves I've been in, how many trips I've been on, etc. & I end up looking like a total dork because I can't answer. I honestly don't even remember the names of a lot of the caves & I lost count on how many trips I've been on while I was still a teenager.

You have multiple maps of one cave. One to go in with one to track your different trips. Will post picture later if anyone is interested.

jsniffin, now I'm worried. Is the second map a map of tight passages to plot the revenge of the crop duster? I have found that a good ceiling burner keeps people from having a flare for that kind of activity. :yikes:

Ask commanderzoom it was horrible. However I don't know if he will be going with me anymore. One of my friends said that he told someone he "used to go caving..." Basically I called him out on trying to steal one of my lights. Actually one of my girlfriends lights.. He denied it but I can't trust him. I WATCHED him stick it in a box. The same box I had already taken it out of.. and his lights look nothing like mine.

However no there is one map that is laminated that now that i have flagging tape will only come out to figure out exactly where we are for curiosity reasons. I'm starting to not like the map. But I have the other one that I have colored in different colors to track different trips and I have them dated. I'll make a copy later. I think its ok to post a map right?
